While I am not against Spoty profitting from some advertisement of some songs, I believe that the push on certain artists, generes and labels is a bit shameless. The problem is that many of these songs seem to be favored because they are from famous artists, backed by record labels that have commercial agreements with Spoty. Meanwhile, songs they listen to more often get excluded by the algorythm. Multiple people have complained that the songs they want excluded are songs they heard once, 8 months ago, and they keep on being pushed into the Blends every single day. Well, in fact, Spotify has a lot of data to weigh the decision of which songs to populate the Blend with.įor example, if I listen to the same song 50 times in a week, if I have it in multiple lists, if I have favorited, if I have dozens of songs from the same author and hundreds of the same genere. Either way, it’s a newer feature so probably has some kinks that will be smoothed out over time. You could also try deleting/leaving the Blend and then creating a new one to see if you get a different result. Spotify doesn’t know any better, and we don’t live and die by our Blend.īlends apparently update on a daily basis based on your recent streaming, so maybe the song will eventually filter out of the Blend with your SO. I think it’s still in the playlist, but we moved on. We shared a laugh, and he had to give the weird backstory on the food-themed playlist. Turns out he has the song in a playlist for songs about food that he randomly made recently. And I was really surprised to find it as a shared song in the Blend with my friend who’s largely a heavy metal/hard rock fan and despises anything even close to pop.

I don’t actually like that song and it’s quite annoying but it’s in my “Early 2000s throwbacks” playlist. And I imagine that creating a Blend-which, on the surface may seem easier since it’s based on overlapping listening and taste between two users -may actually be somewhat more complicated since it doesn’t have contextual user data.įor example, a Blend between a friend and I includes “the Ketchup Song” by Las Ketchup. I understand your frustration, but the algorithm isn’t perfect.
